13th Pyronale: Potsdamer Feuerwerk wins Audience Award at World Championship

The Motto of Pyronale 2018: Battle of the Audience Award Winners. As a thank you to his visitors, the organizer sent the audience favorites of the previous years into the battle against each other. For the team of Potsdamer Feuerwerk it was a great honor to participate at the world championate of pyrotechnicians again after such a brief period of time.

All the more we are very happy to be the winner of the Audience Award once again and to be runner-up in the overall ranking and hence to be the vice world champion. The handing over of the cup at the Maifeld of Berlin’s olympic stadium was a very special moment for everyone. At this top-class competition, our team led by Creative Director Thomas Schenkluhn could once again prove their belonging to the best pyrotechnicians in the world.

Our music selection for Pyronale 2018 obviously was to the Jury’s and Audience’s taste. It only consisted of classics. We chose Johann Sebastian Bach’s Toccata & Fuge in d-minor, Giuseppe Verdi’s Vedi! Le fosche Anvil Chorus, Johannes Brahms’ Hungarian Dance No. 5, Gustav Holst’s Jupiter, Johann Strauß’ Father withe Radetzky march, and, for the finale, Jacques Offenbach’s Can Can from Orpheus in the Underworld.

Every year the world’s best pyrotechnicians come to Berlin for illuminating the night sky with their artworks in front of 60,000 spectators for two days. The team of the capital competed against competitors from Poland, Italy, Netherlands, Russia and Canada.
