> 20th Macau International Fireworks Display Contest 2008

Imagine the night sky of Macau, illuminated by an impressing fireworks show, together with an applauding audience amazed by a spectacular lighting and sound show!

The annual "Macau International Fireworks Display Contest 2008" not only turns the night sky of Macau into daylight, but also those of the local people and numerous holiday guests always looking forward to the phantastic fireworks shows and the festival's cheerful atmosphere. Therefore many guests visit Macau especially during this contest, and in order to spend exotic and romantic holidays.

Macau is very proud of its cultural heritage, and also fireworks manufacturing has a strong position not only in cultural history but also is one of the three most important trades of Macau.

In the late eighties, Macau established the „Macau International Fireworks Display Contest" to celebrate its history, cultural estate and unique atmosphere by spectacular fireworks shows beautifully illuminating Macau city.

Through the years, „Macau International Fireworks Display Contest“ became one of the most famous, internationally established events of this kind and first realized in 1989. Till 1995 it developped from a 5-team to a 10-team contest, in which every evening two teams perform their fireworks competencies. During the last years, more than 100 teams from China, Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Australia, England, Switzerland, France, Portugal (having a long fireworks tradition also), Spain, and last but not least Germany participated in this famous contest.

From 13th of September to 1rst of October 2008, the „Macau International Fireworks Display Contest“ had its 20th anniversary. For this special event and in order to give the festival a worldwide unique touch, the best 10 out of 100 participating nations were chosen.

And this event was opened by our fireworks spectacle! This was a great honour for us, and we want to thank again for the confidence given, especially as only Asian participants were having this privilege during the last 20 years.
