> Midsummer celebrations 2008

Year by year, the "longest day of the year" attracts numerous visitors to have the midsummer celebrations in one of the most beautyful public gardens in Berlin. In summer 2008, the Britzer Garten had its traditional event exactly on solstice, but this one was special due to the first illumination of the beautyful "Großer See". Along the illuminated riverside paths, the visitors were entertained by "green" ghosts, fairies and solists, and escorted to the main scenes near water, where diverse artists were performing during the whole evening.  

• By the promenade at the model harbour, choirs of Berlin were performing summer songs.
• On a small stage by the lawn and playing field, the guests were having a special summer night feeling: fire artists performed their show interacting with water, light and fire.
• On the eastern lakeside on a hooker the visitors listened to Italian aria and staged readings about solstice, nature and water.
• The sea platform in front of the "Cafe am See" had tango sounds as a motto, and the guests were entertained by Argentine music and dance performances.
• The festival ground near by the lake was used as pleasant get-together location with some short intermezzo at the shore.

But the highlight of all acts certainly was the fireworks show shot from the middle of the lake, and thereby could be seen for the first time from all sides around - designed and realized by potsdamer feuerwerk.
